Smoothing plane - Marples M4

William Marples M4 bench smoothing plane

Made in Sheffield in 1950's

A good clean example that retains most of its red paintwork

Has a slight chip off the l/h side rear (see photo) does not affect use

Hardwood handle and knob show no sign of repairs

All parts original to the plane and  the iron is near full length

Slight staining to metalwork through lack of use but no pitting

Will need sharpening and honing before use to suit own needs
